This summer a student of mine returned from his first year at Kent State
(OH) and asked for lessons. At the first lesson he played some things
he had worked on through the year. Wow. What an improvement. He
sounded great. I looked at his mouthpiece and said "what are you
playing on now?" He looked puzzled and said, "A Morgan." I said, "no,
it's not shaped right." No, I was wrong. He was still playing on the
Morgan Pro Tone (read _plastic_) that I had him get in 9th grade!! His
teacher said he sounded fine, why change it! Meanwhile, I had just
spent $100 on another rubber mouthpiece....

Go figure.
