One of my students has one. I don't know the number of the plate, but we
took the smooth metal plate and glued a piece of sheet cork where it
contacts the reed, after which we were both very impressed with the result.
We've also found the Rovner "Eddie Daniels" to be a great ligature for less
money.

Honestly, are these things any good?
I tried an Optimum in a music store about a year ago, and was singularly
unimpressed. I have any number of ligature that seem better, at a fraction
of
the price. Seemed gimmicky and VERY overpriced.
Opinions?

My Assistant in Orchestra had 2, and right before a Concert I tried one -
played it on the spot for the concert, loved it! Works for me. I like the
#2 plate, Jonathan Cohler uses the #1, he likes it also.
