Uniform Resource Locator, which translates to:
http://<somewhere> for the HTTP (commonly referred to as Web) protocol.
There's more than that for URL protocols - ftp, telnet, tn3270, wais,
gopher, archie, veronica, jughead spring to mind. However, most people only
see the http:// and ftp:// ones commonly, the telnet:// occasionally, and
the rest are pretty much historic remnants now.
