Hello all!

I see everyone is up in arms again, because of what is mainly a big
difference in personality styles! Certain types of personalities are very
abrasive to certain other types of personalities, particularly when no effort
is made to understand the differences.

I ,too, used to get annoyed by Roger's approach (sorry, Rog!<g>), until I
figured out that he was an ESTJ. Now I just go, "oh yeah, those ESTJs' bark
is worse than their bite", and it doesn't bother me at all. Roger and I even
had a private discussion about this a while ago (hey, Roger, did you ever
check out that URL?)

For those of you really interested in avoiding personality problems, I
suggest checking out the Myers-Briggs book Type Talk and reading up on the 16
personality types(there's a website too). Besides being a lot of fun, it can
be very helpful in understanding people who are not like you. I enjoy trying
to figure out what type everyone is---for instance, there are many, many TJs
in the clarinet world!!! TJs' main method of communication is argument, and
they don't mean it to be offensive. However, F types don't understand this
concept--to them an argument has to involve bad feelings, hence the
misunderstandings that continue to distract form the business of clarineting!

If you really want to do something about this problem, that is my suggestion.
Anyone else? :-)

Elise Curran, ENTJ
