opinion. I hate Vandoren B45s. I consider them hard blowing, bright or
even shrill in tone and many play severely out of tune. "

I am a rank beginner, so I am poorly qualified to discuss mouthpieces.
However, my second hand clarinet came with a B45. I tried several
brand/strength reeds, but was having a great deal of difficulty. After
reading one of the previous mouthpiece threads I ordered a Hite Premier in
the hope that it might help. Let me tell you, it helped a bunch. From the
first time I tried it I found I could play with very few squeaks and could
actually change registers. I'm still a rank beginner, the cat still flees
in terror, my playing is pitiful and an embarrassment to my daughter (who
actually can play a clarinet) and I have vast amounts to learn, but the
learning became enjoyable instead of an ordeal.
