Jim, I am so very glad you posted on this subject. I did a
review of the Golijov and was very critical of the fact that
live performances of the work were going to be very infrequent
due to the fact that it is such an idiosyncratic piece. Not
only does the soloist have to be a first rate clarinet player,
s/he must also be a sensational Klezmer player, and perform
brilliantly on clarinet, basset horn, and bass clarinet. And
the string quartet part is also quite a killer, too.

That a live performance of this very wonderful work is going
to be given anywhere brightens my day.

Now if you told us what state Ja Jolla is in I might even try
to attend.
