I wasn't by any means saying that a mouthpiece can make you sound like Robert
Marcellus. That's absolutely obsurd. What I was saying is that a mouthpiece
has a way of prducing a different tone and the tone that you feel sounds good
to you, whether it be Janet Hilton or Frank Cohen, may not sound good to
others.

At school we prefer the rounded, full tone of Bonade and Marcellus so we use
equipment similar to theirs so we have the best chance of getting a sound
like them. It's not only the equipment we use, I know. KJF, I was not in
any way saying that a mouthpiece makes you sound better. That would be a
shallow statement. Some have what it takes and some don't. I will say that
a mouthpiece is a way to fine tune your tone and way you sound.
