I have missed much of this discussion and own a sony portable DAT. I have
done some good recordings with it and haven't had any trouble with the
mechanism. I would eventually like to upgrade my system but can't afford to
right now. i have a friend who has done recordings on her macintosh, mixed
it on the computer and put the end result on my dat. The recordings have
been quite good. I would eventually like to do recording on my Mac and was
wondering what you would recommend for software etc. I know I need lots of
RAM. I was alos wondering why the mini disc is not considered as good
because it is still a digital recording? janis
