I'm going to have to disagree with Ben. I've been using my Sony MiniDisc
recorder for the last year and love it. It's cheaper than a DAT unit and
the quality is better than my ProWalkman tape unit. Editing takes on a MD
recorder is much easier than on DAT or cassette. I record on the MD, edit
on the MD, and then dub down to my cassette deck for the final product since
almost everywhere (orchestras or college jobs) want a cassette. Yes, DAT is
better than a MD but I would recommend doing a listening test and comparing
DAT, MD, and cassette. I also use a Sony ECM-909 stereo mic. I wish I had
the bucks for the type of equipment that Ben recommends but I don't. Try
the MiniDisc recording before dismissing it.
