To anyone interested,

I just recently gave my R-13 to a local repair technician recommended by my teacher. She
wanted me to have it looked at, because my B-flat sounded so stuffy. When he looked at
it, he told me that he would put cork pads in the upper section on six places. He said that
he would bevel the pad on the register key and the key under the A key because this
would help the air stream to move out from the clarinet, and minimize the amount of air going
back into the Clarinet. He also suggested putting new pads on the lower half, that where
different than the stock "bladder" pads. He said they would seat much better. He also made
an adjustment on the sliver key on the lower section which made it easier to use.

To my surprise I feel as if I have a whole new Clarinet. The B-flat was helped and movement
across the throat tones is much smoother. The cork pads appear to have helped the intonation
on the altissimo F sharp and A. All this for $75.00.

I would like to recommend him for anybody in the Atlanta Area. His name is David Hester and
if you would like to know how to get in touch with him please e-mail me privately. He came highly
recommended from my teacher and has been doing work for various Symphony players for years.
Obviously his price is extremely reasonable.

Now that I have found someone locally that I can trust and doesn't charge exorbitant prices I have given
him my 30 year Evette-Schaeffer to bring back to a playing level. I had to use it this past week and it
certainly helped me to developed a stronger diaphragm.

I am glad that he resolved so many little things since I will be auditioning for a local Woodwind Quintet in
a couple of weeks.

PS. Sorry no bad jokes today. Not even any good ones. Not that I have ever had one.
It's part of my new plan to be self-moderating.
