Polish traditional dances include:

Czech, Moravian and Slovak dances include

Duple - Starosvetska =Old world (slow)
Duple - Danaj (Danube)

So where is the Polka in all this? -
a lively 2/4 couple dance that became
popular in 19th cen. dance halls
(circa 1837 Prague)
In Czech Pulka means half (half step?)
In Czech Polska means a Polish girl
The Polish near equivalent to the Polka is the Krakowiak
The Polka spread to Vienna, St Petersburg, Paris,
London and the USA between 1839 and 1844.
