I put mine as a rider on my homeowners, however, it stipulates that I can not
earn any money with them in order for them to be covered. It does not even
say an occasional gig is not considered.

As far as I know, any homeowners insurance will just be to cover your
instruments if they are stolen from your home. That's it.
