Subj: [kl] Recent Proof of Needing Moderation
Date: Sat, 31 Jul 1999 01:46:18 -0400

The recent "pole" joke thread just scrapes the tip of
what negative things are happening on the list. It was
funny once, maybe twice but should it elicit tens of
second grade responses wasting bandwidth and making my
delete finger sore? I was totally against moderation
in the past, but I've changed my mind now due to the
lack of actual clarinet/music talk. Quips thrown in
here and there are fine (Abe Galper for example) but
the basis of a CLARINET LIST should be subjects
regarding the playing, construction, repertoire,
history, performers, study, etc. of the CLARINET!

I've posted about clarinet related subjects in the
past - along with others - that have been completely
ignored. Not to say that all my posts (or anybody
elses) are worthy of response, but I figure trying to
find/share information on a piece or product should
gather at least one reply. I'm not on the extreme side
of the moderation issue either. The recent retail
thread was interesting, although not 100% clarinet
related. With the chosen mediators (Charette,
Blumberg, etc.) I feel confident that we can finally
start intelegently discussing the clarinet.

I realize the irony of this post! :)
