be done with tuning certain regions of my bass. The B,C,C# just over the
break are sharp, as is the extended low D and C. I'm told this is standard
with this model, but with throat tones tending low, it creates a problem
with how to compensate (can't pull neck too much). Has anyone had any
success overcoming these issues?

I don't have experience with the Selmer 33, but my Buffet Bass, professional
model circa 1973, has similar problems.

I have installed semi-permanent "spacers" for the middle tenon and the and
the bell tenon. I made them out of the grey pummbing washers you can buy at
any hardware store. These stay on the instrument at all times. The size I
bought fit almost perfectly around the tenon. For inside the socket, I cut a
section out of the washer until it fit snugly inside the tenon socket and did
not overlap itself.

This makes the tenons fit snugly, takes away wobble, and provides me with a
"stable" consistent intonation. I then have to pull out at the neck only
about a quarter inch, which preserves the throat tones.

Hope this helps. I figured this out on my own after years of agonizing over
certain sharp notes.
