Pete,

It is possible that all of the low notes are a bit too open.

At best, the notes over the register break are going to be a little high. To
help lower these notes a bit, experiment with a little tape under the
register key spatula. Reducing the throw will cause the two register vents to
open less. This will lower the B/C/C#. If you get them too low, these notes
will loose their clear sound and get a little furry around the edges. If the
tape thing works, make it a permenant change by installing a thicker cork
under the key and draw a strip of sandpaper over the cork, applying a light
pressure as you draw the strip. In any event, you won't be doing anything
that can't be undone and restored to its original condition.

What horn or you playing? Does it have both vents on the body or is one
linked to a key up on the neck?
