Actually, I don't lead the double life anymore. When I decided to get serious about clarinet, marching was out of the question, especially the bugle -which really screws up your chops.
I taught marching bands for 3 years, during which I was a full time student. After a falling out and an increasingly strenuous musical and academic schedule, I left that job, even though it was an excellent program.
And to answer a question by an earlier poster, if there are any people who play in an orchestra who marched drum corps, I know one person who left the corps I was marching to take a position in an orchestra in AZ. I've played in a few orchestras, and hope to do some more at Peabody. Then, I'll be able to say, yes I do currently play in an orchestra in spite of being a former drum corps member. :-)
