Most school districts support the teacher's choice of substitution for
curriculum when physical/medical problems conflict with a current
curriculum. The band director's choice was a good one under his own rules
- and allowed the student to avoid physical work. Given the requirement by
the school to follow the rules regarding MB, the band director allowed for
a choice by the student. The parents didn't have a leg to stand on.
Do we all agree with the solution? What other possibilities can people
suggest? I would be interested in viewing those - could be equally as
illuminating!
