just recently one of the schools in my town just settled a controversy
over a student participating in marching band.......

the girl plays flute and has asthma, so according to her doctor she can
not "run around" or be overtly active.......she did however want to be
in wind ensemble (top group) which starts in november......the directors
said she had to be in marching band, but that they would excuse her from
marching...she could play her part in the pit and also help with the
music library to fulfill the class requirements....keep in mind this
school is in a well-to-do area andeveryone things they should get
special treatment. The parents whined all the way to the school board
and guess what the they lost.......she could either accept the offer the
directors gave or do a 30 page term paper on 1 of 5 topics pre-chosen
with references......

the board said that students we not aloud to preempt out of other
classess because they didn't prefer part of the curriculum.......

just thought it was interesting

jacque
just my 2 sense
