While opinions internationally
are so widely diverse (and also between
generations) and discussions continue
at length about what the "Klarinet" is for,
I would like to use an analogy.

We must discuss equipment of course,
but this appears to predominate "Klarinet"
topics in the long term, over the 3 years I
have known it. It is very important.
I do not know the proportions of
students, teachers, pros, amateurs in
"Klarinet's" shifting population.
A high proportion of teachers
and students might account for this.
There is a bit less said about music.
This is like the owner of an expensive
camera, who is mean about the quantity of film
he uses, or the hi-fi enthusiast who buys few
recordings.

On a mostly local level, in Britain, I am no longer
surprised how very many players (not just clarinettists)
do not buy much music, especially chamber music,
but I cannot account for it.
