I respectfully suggest that the periodic kvetchers about how Klarinet
should be only about clarinets seem to have forgotten the old truth that
all art aspires to the condition of music (who DID say that?--Schopenhauer?
Nietzche? Spike Jones?). Thus, strictly adhering to a rule that
discussions should be about nothing but clarinets would make for a list
that would be about as entertaining as an article in Popular Mechanics on
how to use duct tape to repair a drainpipe.

Lighten up, guys. Clarinets get played in marching bands (Bless me,
Father, for I have sinned). Marching bands (Bless me, Father, for I have
sinned) play music. This list finally is about MUSIC. I do not believe it
is or can be confined strictly to the care and feeding of clarinets. The
moment you get into discussions of the people who stick a clarinet in their
mouths, you begin to talk about what they play and about making music.

Any list goes off on tangents, especially in a group as lively as this one.
Leave it alone.

Ken
