Let me be blunt. Marching Band is not neutral to clarinet playing. It is
BAD for clarinet playing. IMNSHO, it is WORSE to "play" clarinet whilst
waddling over the football field than to leave it alone in the case--I have
seen way too many damaged embouchures and clarinets to feel any other way.

No question it' s fun. It simply isn't a valuable musical experience,
however. It teaches bad habits and makes you a worse clarinet player, pure
and simple.
