Andy,

Barrels can make a big difference in terms of sound production and pitch.
Both barrels you have mentioned are very good, as is the Chadash barrel.
Measurements (standard) for a Bb clarinet might be a 66 mm, a 65 mm for A
clarinet.

Regarding your question about a "general consensus" - my observation is
that most of the best pros playing that I have viewed play on a different
barrel than comes standard with their instrument. The variation in stock
barrels, even for a professional line horn such as the Buffet R-13 or the
Leblanc Concerto, is enormous. Same is true for saxophone necks - they
make a big difference (as do bass clarinet necks).
