Try Carmina Burana

A note on Goliardic verses from Benet at my elbow...
Light Latin verse of the 12th to 13th century
Germany, France and England by students,
minstrels and wandering clerics
Of 2 types
1) scurilous satire defying all types of authority including the Pope
2) Nonchalant, ribald celebration of nature, women, wine etc
A large collection of German verse (part Latin and part Medieval German)
known as "Carmina Burana" (Songs of Buren) was published in 1847 (Type 2)
and part of it was set by Carl Orff in 1936 fp Frankfurt 1937
USA premiere San Francisco 1954
Also translated into English in 1884
under the title "Wine Women and Song"
