One of my private students asked her band director if she could not be in
marching band this next year - but concentrate on her clarinet lessons and
performance ability (what a shock!). This is a marching program that has
consistantly placed very high in competitions and the concert band program
is very reasonable. The high school director told her that it is a
requirement to be in MB if she is in the Wind Ensemble, but then gave her
ok when she found out who the clarinet teacher was. I have no idea why -
but I do know that the director likes my band's clarinet section sound.
Gee, maybe I could convince her to make MB voluntary?
