My wife teaches jr. high orchestra. One of the students dropped his cello
and it literally broke the neck off - where the bridge and neck meet. The
father glued it - never played the same. The father then returned the
rental instrument for an upgrade - luckilly we had notified the local shop
of what had happened and they were prepared to deal with it.

I also saw a grand piano pushed off the stage by a student teacher (not
mine) once - wish I had a tape recorder. How often do you get to hear
something like that??
