I haven't tried baby powder to absorb moisture, but I do use rosin when I
play my bass clarinet. As many of you may know, Buffet Pretige Basses have
really smooth, flat silver keys. When I play contemporary music, I often
have to play extreme numbers of notes. I sweat and the keys become slick.
To remedy this problem, I purchased a cake of string bass rosin and I rosin
my fingers before playing.
Works like a charm.

Polishing the keys (silver cloth for instruments) also helps the silver be
not slippery. The oils from the finger can accumulate and make the silver
feel pretty slick. Try cleaning the silver to get its non-slip qualities
back. The rosin is a good idea Ben!
