When my brother and I were both young and living at home, we use to play duets
all the time--me being the clarinetist and he the trumpeter. Sometimes we
played Arban duets and sometimes we played out of my books, Klose and
Langenus.

It all started to go to hell when my brother, distressed at the range of the
clarinet parts would go back to the Arbans and propose we play something up a
half step, down a fourth, up a sixth, etc. (His trumpet teacher was teaching
him do do ALL the transpositions and he was quite remarkable at being able to
do it).
