Try getting in contact with Mitchell Lurie in Los Angeles. He worked in the
studios for a number of years starting in the 50's, I believe. He worked
with a lot of the big time composers and always has lots of stories to tell.
(Lessons with him are 1 1/2 hours long--> 45 minutes of which are stories).
All of them are great. What a life he has had.

He doesn't have e-mail so you will have to write to him.

Another player you might try is Jim Kanter. (Spelling? as in the
mouthpiece maker) He is pretty much the first call for all movies going on
now in Los Angeles. If you hear clarinet in a movie that was recorded here
in LA, it is probably him. He also plays principal clarinet in the Pacific
Symphony. I don't have contact info for him, but he should be pretty easy
to find. I know his number is in the Union Book (Local 47, Los Angeles.
Offices are on Vine Street in Hollywood)

Good Luck!
