You should take a look at a book, "Recollections of a First-Chair
Bassoonist" by Don Christlieb. Don played in hundreds of movies from the
late 1930's through the 1970's, including Gone with the Wind, the Wizard
of Oz, and many other famous movies. He worked at all the major studios
and with all the big-name conductors and composers. Don is still living
in California, although he is not in the best of health. His son Tony has
taken over his business, a double reed equipment supply house. I don't
have their address with me at the moment. Write me if you need it. The
book also would be available at certain music stores specializing in
supplies for the oboist or bassoonist, such as Forrest's Music in
Berkeley, California. They have a web site. Another possibility would be
Edmund Nielsen Woodwinds in Evanston, Illinois.
