My best friend owns a music store in Memphis TN. One day a student can by
the store with his parents and looked a Conn Double French Horns. They
decided on a model 8D and told the store owner that they would return the
following week the purchased the instrument. The next week they showed up at
the store with a New Mail order French horn that they bought from New York
over the Internet. They told my friend that they bough from the mail order
company because is was $80 cheaper. My friend said great I am glad you saved
$80 on your new instrument.
Two months later, the first valve was sticking and the parents came
into the local music store to have it repaired. It was urgent as the All
State auditions were the following day and the kid really needed the
instrument in perfect working condition ASAP. My friend smiled and said,
"I'm sorry but I am completely booked with my on instruments to repair. My
customer get priority as they bought horns from my shop. They parents
offered double the repair charges, but the owner still wouldn.t fix the
French Horn. Finally the father said, "What would you recommend we do?" The
owner said, " That's easy, Just E mail the horn to New York and Have them E
mail it back to you in time for the Audition."
Keep this story in mind when buying Mail order to save a few $$$$$!

Thanks,

Alvin Swiney
