We do not refuse to work on a student's horn if it has been damaged through
normal
wear and tear, or through some damage. However, when the student's parents
try to
save a bit of money and buy merchandise that is inferior and never should have
been sold to the public, we send them back to the place they purchased it!
Would
you go to your local mechanic to fix a problem on a new Cadillac that was
present
at the time you purchased it???

Hi Margaret. I replied as I did because there is a music store here in West
Chester, PA. that actually will not repair an instrument if it were
purchased from a mail order company - and they do ask where the instrument
was bought. I don't mean fix a manufacturing problem, but to even replace a
pad that has worn out!! My students have bought numerous instruments from
WW&BW, and never had a problem - not one. I have them play test the
instruments before shipping, and each, and every instrument comes in
perfect shape. No lemons at all. If I was getting instruments that were not
in top condition, I would not use them. Any mail-order company that ships
an instrument in poor condition should not be in the business (or maybe
should be selling on ebay;).
Sorry Margaret if I misunderstood your posting, but the store here really
does have that policy (the owner hates mail order, yet his prices are quite
high - (only 10-15 % off list). I taught his Woodwind manager - who
bought her own R-13 Clarinet from WW&BW - even had them shipped to the
store (tried 3 sent 2 back)!!
