It's still largely true, although the exchange rate is nearer $1.55
today. It's particularly noticeable with computer hardware and
software, and books. However, these cushy profits are under threat
because with the Internet and credit cards it's getting easier all the
while to buy direct from the USA, which not only undermines the monopoly
but also exposes the price differentials. We live in hope...
