I agree with Fred's comments about ClarinetFest1999. I had a great time
listening to wonderful performances. There were over fifty concerts by
some of the best players in the world including Sabine Meyer, Ricardo
Morales, Larry Combs, Eddie Daniels, etc. and the list goes on... I also
got to try as many clarinets and mouthpieces as my time and energy allowed.
I also got to meet several people on the Klarinet list, including David
Blumberg, Gregory Smith (I play his 1+ which he customized for me last
year) and Lisa Argiris from International Music Suppliers. As an ever
improving amateur, it was a very humbling experience. I have to admit,
however, that I was glad when it was finally over. I enjoyed not listening
to a single clarinet for 24 hours... until my Monday night wind orchestra
rehearsal.
