Not to beat a dead horse, but when I was in the market for a Buffet A
clarinet, I brought a well-known mail order catalog to my local music store
and asked if they could meet or beat the published price in the catalog. The
store owner willingly complied, matching the Giardinelli price plus $50. I
felt the small premium was a fair compromise. After the sale, the clarinet
needed minor adjustment. (This was before I learned how to do things on
clarinets myself.) The adjustment was done in timely fashion and free of
charge by the man who is reputed to be the BEST clarinet repairer in the
state of RI. Of course, I was a loyal customer of this store, buying
virtually all of my sheet music there.

In short, if you already have a good relationship with the local music store,
ASK if they will meet the mail order catalog price.

Cindy
