Since you brought it up, the "guy" reading the news was a woman. But,
hey--I'll be the first to admit that incompetence is gender-less. You don't
even have to listen carefully to the news to catch numerous mispronunciations
and grammatical errors that are spoken straight-faced by those glamorous
talking heads.

I was also amused, as you were, by the unintentional play on words, which
prompted the original post. Anyway, it was only the anchor who mispronounced
the maestro's name. The CNN reporter who interviewed Ozawa said it
correctly. The piece also featured about two seconds of a clarinetist
playing a solo part, so I probably shouldn't gripe too much.

BTW, I enjoyed your Mencken quote. I have to deal with many "pecksniffs" in
my day job, and think of him often.
