The Lakey 6*3 is very open and hard to control. I have one I know what it
is like. The "best" alto mouthpiece if you are a beginner on the sax is
probably a Meyer #5, that's sort of the essential alto mouthpiece. A lot of
classical players use a Selmer C*, but the Meyer is pretty basic. As far as
soprano sax goes, I find that something pretty closed is almost essential -
the Soprano is a difficult instrument to control as it is. I use an Otto
Link #5, but I'd actually like something even more closed. The Selmer C*
would be a tough one on the Soprano even though it's pretty good on the
Alto.
