It's the F#/C# key the post towards the Bell where the spring for the key is
lodge . The clarinet is an R13 greenline . I am helping her find a
replacement for the post any help would be appreciated.

Dear Raymond,
The problem you describe can be corrected without replacing the post.
If you do repair work or have access to a repair shop, I would recommend the
following procedure:

1. Remove the key and post form the horn.

2. Remove one of the post from the upper joint and replace that post
temporarily with the broken spring post. The new post position will give you
better access to the
Broken spring as well as hold the post securely.

3. Next take an awl punch or thick saxophone spring and place it directly
over the stub of the broken spring. While someone else holds the clarinet
firmly against a table you can tap the spring stub out of the post. If the
spring stub is irregular or uneven try filing it a little to make the spring
more visible.

4 . Make sure you tap the spring in the right direction, as it is wedged in
with a tapered fit.

5. If you still cant get the broken spring out, Drill another hole right
below the original spring hole. This can be done by a repaiman. I would
suggest a wire drill size number 65 which is .035 of an inch.

6. Once the stub has been removed put both posts back in their original
positions.

7. At this point, it is fairly easy to replace the spring.

8. Remember! It a lot easier to replace a spring instead of the entire post.

9. If you have any problems with this procedure, please fell free to contact
me.

Good Luck,
