Bill Hausmann tipped:

<<<I have had great success lately with a sheet of plexiglass about the size
of the music stand, placed over the music. Quick page turns are a problem,
but if the plexiglass is large enough you can have three sheets laid next to
each other.>>>

I too have used clear Lucite acrylic for a number of years for the (gag)
outdoor gigs. I have found that the page turns are actually easier and
faster than the 4 clothespins that others use to bind the music to the
stand.

My tip--rather than have the piece cut 11" x 17" (the same size as a
"normal" double page), it helps to have the sheet cut about an inch or two
smaller in ever direction -- say 10" x 15". The extra inch hanging out on
either side won't flap that much in the breeze, and it gives you something
to grab before you lift the plastic sheet.

Like anything else, it works better with practice. I can now (a) clamp the
bell between legs, (b) grab music w/ right hand (c) lift sheet w/ left and
(d) deftly manipulate music & plastic sheet so that the page turn is quite
quick.

Now if they could only do something about rain, sunburn, drunken buffoons
(and bassoons) and bad acoustics, playing outside wouldn't be so bad . . .
