For a verrrrrry long list of music likely to be available, go to:

http://www.luybenmusic.com/music/music_frames.html

When you get there, click on the "music" button in the left frame, then select
"Instrumental Solos & Ensembles" from the menu, then the "C" on "Clarinet," then
have a ball with ALL the categories. ;^) BTW, unlike Dorn (at least before I
gave up on them), if Luyben's lists something in their catalog, they usually
have it in stock. (You can also request a paper catalog from them.)

A fairly comprehensive list of recommended repertoire is located at:

http://www.ithaca.edu/music/music4/rep.html

Jack Brymer's book "Clarinet" includes a list of works with brief
descriptions/comments.

A general source of clarinet literature is located on Sneezy at:

http://www.sneezy.org/Databases/ComposersIndex/index.html

Browsing (hazardous to your free time) may turn up additional titles. (Perhaps
try "solo" as a search word for unaccompanied works.) This list includes
publishers.

For previous recommendations from list members regarding what might be good
choices, of unaccompanied works, you may want to check the archive on Sneezy
which includes ALL past messages to the list (including the recent reference to
a certain female clarinetist -- thank you for sharing that, nice to have it on
record for posterity) at:

http://www.sneezy.org/Databases/LogsIndex/index.html

As I recall (without checking), the following have been recommended in the past
(I'm including a few of my own choices in here as well),

"Best in Breed"

Stravinsky, Three Pieces
Sutermeister, Capriccio

"Tuneful, Popular, Fun (and Playable even if you aren't Jonathan Cohler) -- IMHO

Osborne, Rhapsody
Rosza, Sonatina
Rosza, Sonata
Von Koch, Monologue 3
Bentzon, Tema med Variationen

"Other"

Piazzola, Tango Etudes
Sari, Stati
Lemeland, Cinq Pieces
Lemeland, Cinq Nouvelles Pieces
Johnson, Suite for Clarinet Solo
Arnold, Fantasy
Cahuzac, Arlequin
Harvey, Three Etudes on Themes of Gershwin (Note: also gets negative
recommendations from some listmembers.)
Jacob, Five Pieces
Martino, A Set for Clarinet
Smith, Five Pieces
Wellesz, Suite

Best regards,
Jack Kissinger
St. Louis
