You're right. As you say, the interval, in orchestral pitch, is a perfect
fourth, as long as neither the Eb baritone nor the Bb bass has the low A or
both of them have it. (Old woofer saxes, like my 1926 bass, only have
keywork to written low Bb. There aren't many new basses. I don't know if
the few companies that will make a bass on special order take the keywork
down to low A nowadays. A lot of modern baritones have keywork to low A. If
the bass has no low A and the bari has low A, the difference becomes a minor
fourth.) I didn't even catch my mistake when I read my own message in the
digest.
