Dear Lelia,

I do enjoy your posts to this list. That cat of yours is something else.
I'm a dog person, Labrador, no dogs right now, kids too little. I love cats
but am allergic. (if you have suggestions for inexpensive desensitization,
would love to hear - email me privately @-----. )
I knew a young man when I was in college who said his eyes rattled when he
played contrabass clarinet. That has to be a bizarre feeling. I too enjoy
each instrument for its individual contribution to the timbral palette
(sorry for the quasi-pretentious construction - I really mean this, though).
Color is everything, and I think a well played bass clarinet is beautiful.
A number of years ago, I heard young man play a recital which included the
Stravinsky Three Pieces. He played the first movement on bass clarinet. I
felt it was about the best part of the recital!
