Greetings!

Again the opportunity has come to brag about school. I attend DePaul
University here in Chicago. The clarinet faculty consists of Julie
DeRoche (president-elect of ICA, #1 sub for the Chicago Symphony, and a
big time freelancer in Chicago), John Bruce Yeh (Assistant Principal/Eb
CSO) and Larry Combs (principal clarinet of the CSO). What appealed most
to about this school was the camaraderie between the studios. There is
no rivalry whatsoever. The faculty themselves make up the Chicago
Clarinet Trio. There are plenty of playing opportunities here in Chicago
which is something that you don't want to miss.

When I was in high school I was in the Manhattan School of Music
Precollege program and the NY Youth Symphony. I wanted to go to a
conservatory but wanted a well rounded education as well. DePaul offers
just enough in that area in a conservatory setting. Students in the
clarinet studio, this year alone, have won positions in the Chicago Civic
Orchestra, the New World Symphony, and a fellowship to Tanglewood.

You can check out the web site at http://www.depaul.edu and inquire more
information from Julie DeRoche at jderoche@-----.

Good Luck!
