First, try to determine if the pain you describe is actually from clarinet
playing and not from your "day job" or a sport in which you participate. As a
longtime computer user, my aches are largely caused by many years' overuse of
keyboard and mouse and NOT by my clarinet. Of course, those aches affect my
clarinet playing some days. While thumb pain is probably related to your
clarinet playing, any hand, wrist, forearm, or shoulder pain could be from
something else - or a combination of factors.

Not a physician...just a fellow sufferer...
