I was talking about this situation with a local string player, and she
said that using a Dampit had actually caused *mold* to grow in her bass
case! And that's here in semi-Sahara Montana, so I can just imagine what
could happen in a less dry part of the country.

Last winter, one of the clarinet players in band showed up with a
clarinet so dry that the rings on the bell and barrel would almost fall
off. I told her that someone on the list had suggested using the
humidifier that was sold to be put in a cigar humidor -- it sounds like a
good idea.
