Something that really helped me develop an embouchure that worked was playing
tenor sax. I started playing alto last summer with hopes of joining jazz band
at school the next year. I was unable to get the lower notes to speak unless
I approached them in a descending scale. I tried out, made it, and ended up
playing the tenor all year. About three months later, when I picked up the
alto again, the low b, c & d spoke almost effortlessly and they still do.
Unfortunately, the same notes on the tenor never played as well. I guess I'll
have to take up the bari for that. :-)

Since we are all different, it might or might not help for you. I think the
tenor just reinforced the loose embouchure needed for those notes.

Good luck,

Jennifer
