I use a reedual a lot. My experience is that a good "model" reed is not a
good playing reed. There are some inherent inconsistencies in the way each
machine (and every user) cuts, and your model must counteract those
inconsistencies.

I've had best luck working in reverse by finding a good shape that works
with a particular type of cane, and then handmaking a model that will
reproduce that shape when the reedual is used.

Also, you must be careful of your changing reed model shape. As it is used
on the dual over and over again, it will begin to compress.
