A good explanation. However, the problem is that if we had 1,000 blanks,
all cut to exactly the same dimensions, we would have 1,000 different
reeds, because no two pieces of cane are the same. The primary difference
in hard reeds and soft ones is not their dimensions, but the
characteristics of the cane itself.
