The best would be not to use the term at all! Think of all the poor kids
learning the clarinet who learn that it has a "break" and the psychological
effect it has on them. I suggest "register change" as being more appropriate
and more accurate. The "break" refers to the "missing" notes between the
registers which are "bridged" by the "short fingerings" (G#, A, Bb). Since we
are *not* missing these notes, there is no break. (Well, maybe between lessons
with a cup of coffee ...)

The saxophone overblows an octave and therefor doesn't have the problem of
changing registers to the extent that the clarinet can have. There's no need
to import this horrible term to another instrument!
