I use a cello dampit, and it works beautifully in the winter. (in the summer,
I have to let it dry out completely or my clarinet begins to feel awfully
sticky and weird.)

I imagine a violin/viola one would work equally well, although it wouldn't
have the same shock value my wet dampit has when I startle my little sister
with it, dangling it on her and yelling "snake!" :)

My clarinet worm, aka dampit, has been fun and effective. ;)
