Mike,

If you take care of your mouthpiece, it will last many, many years. My
Pyne S13 (purchased from Shifrin in 1980 and made long before that) is
still great - although I don't play on it anymore. My Kaspar (C. 1955) is
still as good as the day it was purchased - although I don't play on it
either.

I don't think you need to be alarmed that the facing will change on you.
